Working with us
At Schmidt Hammer Lassen, we are a multidisciplinary team of architects, architectural technologists, project managers and specialists in areas including computational design and UX, alongside professionals working in people & culture, communication, business development, IT, sustainability and innovation.

Working at Schmidt Hammer Lassen is, of course, about more than projects and deadlines. SHL Learn
Our internship programme, SHL Learn, builds on our culture of learning, collaboration and professional development, and is aimed at the next generation of professionals. We primarily welcome interns from architecture and architectural technology programmes, but have also hosted interns working within areas including sustainability, communication, digital practice and business development.
An internship at Schmidt Hammer Lassen runs for five months, from February to June or from August to January. Students who are still enrolled in their degree programme are welcome to apply. Applications are made exclusively through our online recruitment platform and during the periods when internship positions are listed. These application periods are normally in September/October for internships starting in February and February/March for internships starting in August.
As an intern at SHL, you become part of a team from day one. You contribute to ongoing projects at different stages and work closely with experienced colleagues. We aim to adapt each internship around the intern’s professional interests as far as possible, providing opportunities to explore different disciplines in practice. It is an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into our analytical and collaborative approach to architecture and the day-to-day work of an international practice.
The internship is about more than daily project work. As part of SHL Learn, interns take part in shared learning sessions with presentations from colleagues and specialists across the practice, as well as thematic programmes and study trips. This provides opportunities to meet people from different disciplines, exchange experiences with fellow interns and gain a broader understanding of SHL’s practice.
We see internships as an opportunity for mutual learning. Interns bring new perspectives, knowledge and inspiration that contribute to our professional environment, while we have the opportunity to share our experience and give students an insight into everyday life at the studio. For us, it is an important responsibility to help give the next generation a strong start to their professional lives.
For many, an internship has been the beginning of a continued career at SHL. Several of our colleagues started as interns and have since continued working with us after completing their studies.
