Schmidt Hammer Lassen to Deliver Design Services for the European Investment Bank
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has awarded the design services contract for its West Campus Programme to a leading international consortium, which includes Schmidt Hammer Lassen (SHL). The appointment follows a competitive tender process initiated in 2024.
In addition to SHL, the consortium comprises Assar Universum Architects (Luxembourg), Assar BE Architects (Belgium), Paul Wurth Geprolux (Luxembourg), Tractebel Engineering (Belgium), Topotek 1 (Germany), and Papaya Urbanistes et Architectes Paysagistes (Luxembourg). Together, the consortium brings extensive expertise in large-scale building design and renovation, with particular experience in Luxembourg-based projects.
Under the signed Framework Agreement, the consortium will provide design services for an initial period of eight years, with the possibility of extension for up to three additional years. The agreement is valued at up to EUR 33 million.
This milestone represents a major step in the EIB West Campus Programme, which will see the renovation and extension of the West Building (WKI), while preserving its historic façade. The consortium’s first task will be to develop a preliminary design for submission to the EIB’s governing bodies in early 2026.
