Schmidt Hammer Lassen has been appointed lead consultant for the restoration and transformation of two heritage buildings totalling approximately 7,500 m² in Universitetsbyen, Aarhus.
The project is being developed for FEAS and will create new spaces for the Faculty of Arts at Aarhus University as part of the transformation of the former Aarhus Municipal Hospital into a new campus and urban district. Universitetsbyen is one of the largest urban transformation and development projects in Aarhus.
The two buildings will be transformed into flexible and future-ready spaces for students and staff, while preserving and building on their architectural and cultural heritage qualities.
“Together with Aarhus University, FEAS has established a strong foundation for a new campus and urban environment that builds on the history and qualities of the site. We look forward to contributing to the next phase of its development and transforming the existing buildings into inspiring spaces for research, teaching and community,” says Kasper Frandsen, Partner at Schmidt Hammer Lassen.
As lead consultant, Schmidt Hammer Lassen will lead the project with NIRAS as subconsultant, responsible for the technical disciplines and construction management.
