Halifax Central Library Achieves Accessibility Gold Certification

In August 2024, Halifax Central Library earned the prestigious Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certified Gold rating, the highest level of recognition under the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification™ program. This Gold certification underscores the library’s commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible environment—a milestone we are incredibly proud to achieve.

The Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC) is Canada’s most comprehensive authority on accessibility in the built environment, providing insights into meaningful access. Scoring an impressive 84% in the RHFAC assessment, Halifax Central Library joins an elite group of just over 110 facilities across Canada—and only two libraries—to achieve this distinguished Gold standard.
