Schmidt Hammer Lassen - SHL
The first competition is in Ningbo, a historical port city 250km south of Shanghai, and is for the new headquarters for Ningbo Daily Newspaper Group. The 100,000m2 project, which sits at the heart of Ningbo’s New East Town development, is to contain the offices for eight separate newspaper groups along with supporting sports and conference facilities and a 2000 seat auditorium. The competing teams are UDG (China), SYN Architects (Germany), Josep Lluis Mateo (Spain), DC International (Singapore), Sancho Madridejos (Spain), and schmidt hammer lassen architects.
Submissions are due in March.
The second competition sits at the centre of the new redevelopment zone previously occupied by the 2010 Shanghai Expo. Named “Green Valley”, the project is a large scale mixed used commercial and office project situated on the axis of the Chinese Pavilion that was the showcase of the Shanghai expo. The competing teams are ECADI (China), HPP Architects (Germany), Wilkinson Eyre (UK), and schmidt hammer lassen architects.
