Old boiler house new beacon for “The Spinning Mills” culture centre in Vejle

The converted Spinning Mills and surroundings were inaugurated in 2010 and the new innovation centre is planned for completion in 2013. In the past, the boiler house towered as a beacon of the industrial complex, and renovations are projected to restore the old building’s former majestic role.
The renovated boiler is intended to underpin a multidisciplinary environment where creativity and design interact with business acumen. People from the performing arts segment will interact with graphic designers, technicians, photographers, IT professionals, writers and business people and help define an innovative environment beyond the ordinary. Private and public sectors will work together on design-driven innovative projects supported by multiple skills and fine facilities.
The comprehensive renovation will preserve industrial traces while serving as catalyst for a creative atmosphere. Boxes in Corten steel and glass with a sharp, minimalist look will be added to the visible skeleton structure of concrete with red brick fillings. The new features will be balanced with the preserved industrial look.
