The 316 entries for NLA have been judged by an international panel of architects and urban design experts, chaired by renowned architect and writer Peter Murray. The judges sought projects that contribute to and enhance the vision of London as a changing city.

“We believe that the best projects for New London are those that contribute most to their urban environment and local community through design excellence, show respect for context and demonstrate innovative and efficient use of resources in their construction, maintenance and proposed lifespan,” NLA writes on their website.

The winners of the Awards – 20 in total – will be announced at a lunch in London at The Guildhall on Tuesday 12 July 2011. All shortlisted projects will be featured in a new NLA book and in a permanent exhibition of New London Projects at NLA’s galleries in The Building Centre from September 2011.

City of Westminster College, which is designed to support new ways of learning, was won in an international competition in 2006 and taken into use in 2011. Recently, City of Westminster College also won a RIBA award in London.
