Description:
The Regional Council Hall in Viborg contains a two-storey wing conjoined to the existing County Hall on the Skottenborg road, and a single-storey building on the corner of Tingvej which contains the debating chamber.
The office wing contains space for councillors and the management along with a foyer incorporating a new reception. This wing features a glass façade facing the south side of the street and a closed metal façade facing the car park on the northern edge.
The roof is designed as a significant slice in bronze varnished metal which at the same storey connects the office wing and the debating chamber. Above the foyer on the first floor, the roof slice has a cantilever that highlights the entrance section towards the north and the south. At the north-facing gable, the roof bends down and finishes the debating chamber towards the parking area.
The Regional Council Hall is kept in timeless classic brown nuances matching the existing County Hall, and the circular shape of the building takes the form of a modern interpretation of an old time village courthouse. The building is situated as an island on a low water table almost all the way around the building.
The walls in the debating chamber are interrupted by slender glass sections; a symbol of openness and transparency in the democratic political process and dialogue in correlation to the surrounding world.
