Description:
The extension of the furniture retail store, which serves as an arrival area, consists of a pillar and girder system clad in a thin skin of green-toned glass and appears as a grandly scaled, elegant display case. The mullions consist of dark grey steel frames, and to emphasise the perceptible lightness the glazing extends up over a portion of the roof.
The project involves the expansion and rebuilding of store space and the creation of a warehousing facility. The forecourt has been resurfaced with black mosaic and setts, specially designed bollards have been installed, and there are in-ground uplighters that designate the main entrance. The showrooms cover two floors and part of the existing concrete floorplate has been removed to create a through-view across the entire length of the store. A skylight allows natural light to flood this space whose planting includes a six metre tall olive tree.
Items designed for the interior include a customer service desk, office furniture, a wrapping table and information counters in the showroom area. The counters are designed specifically for ILVA Ishøj but in keeping with ILVA’s overarching design concept.
